Small, stainless steel metal brackets are bonded to the teeth. A bracket is made up of two wings with a horizontal slot placed through the middle. This slot is very important. It contains a prescription that is tailored to each tooth and directs the position within the arch as well as the tip and torque. These brackets are bonded or attached to each tooth and the wire is secured by colorful o-rings.
Clear brackets have the same design as metal brackets, but they are made out of tooth colored ceramic. They do NOT stain with coffee, wine, curry or whatever else you choose to eat or drink so they are ideal for those that are more esthetically conscious!
